You are right. I had to do several more hours of research and trial to figure it out. when i try to open any microsoft related site or hotmail (and some other sites), and avast update site.. this reli solved my probs which haunted me for half a year! check over here

It should never be checked. Anyone have any experience with this outfit? It seems to me that it is directly linked to Norton Internet Security. This fixes my inability to access https:// or any SSL link.
