I'm using hardware servers (HP DL380 G7's), but I'm wondering if in the OP's case, they may be experiencing the issue because of the video drivers used by VMware. I'm using windows 10. CTRL+ALT+BREAK: Force the Remote Desktop into full-screen mode.
