Now after my computer (dell 4700) boots up the monitor says "CANNOT DISPLAY THIS VIDEO MODE". Generated Sun, 06 Nov 2016 20:31:39 GMT by s_mf18 (squid/3.5.20) An error (403 Forbidden) has occurred in response to this request. My 5th clean install this summer. Unless you messed with some advanced settings, Windows will try the new resolution and display a message for about 15 seconds asking if you want to keep the new resolution. A window will appear with lots of option. Try booting up into safe mode and then changing your settings back to 1024x768 (or lower) it should work fine then. Once you got the correct values, reconfigure your monitor (X windows) using any one the command (as per your Linux distribution) mentioned here.
