- There are so many files, it takes a ridiculous amount of time just to do a search for various *.tmp and *.dmp files (let alone all the other crap in there),

Trying to delete the whole folder from Explorer results in access denied because another process is using a file in the folder (IE is not running while I'm doing this). I did the easiest thing and rebooted into MS-DOS mode and manually deleted each of the three files there. If you are still having problems, see the document below.
