Why Isn't My External Hard Drive Showing Up The Disk Mgmt allots a space and assigns a drive letter, but does not read the drive, reporting 'no media', as if it is a card reader.

I tried to look up how to reformat it, but realized it was going to delete my files. This was precisely what the problem was in may case. Reply Masud Shorif April 8, 2016 at 8:11 am Going into the disk management and then formatting did the job for my ssd drive. At first it wouldnt recognize the SSD, so I unplugged the other two drive to load the OS. What should I do? PROBLEM SOLVED.
