I've heard it called a Schema Lock, but I don't know if that's right. In many cases, Windows even points you directly to the program in question in the error message, allowing you to simply close it and try again. Apparently there is an official way to restart explorer.exe, but I seem to be getting away with killing it and starting it back up again it in Task Manager. So how can I delete it short of rebooting?
